He planted it himself in the 1950s on land so rocky it took hundreds of charges of dynamite to break the soil, and he turned it into one of the most coveted single vineyard wines on earth. After his retirement in 2001, the vines passed to his nephew Emmanuel Rouget, who continues to farm them in the same uncompromising style. The vineyard sits directly above Richebourg, and the wine has long been spoken of
