Primarily granitic sandstone

All red and white wines are given skin contact and ferment exclusively with wild yeasts

but also soils like marl and sandstone

2011 Chateau de Fonsalette (Rayas), Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Syrah Reserve, France Alvaro Palacios Aged on the lees for100% Syrah. The grapes for this wine come from vines were planted in 1944 1948, and 1987. The wine is aged for three months in enamel vats, then aged for 12 months in 450 Liter casks.
