Luigi Musso, in car number 12, and Jimmy Bryan, the greatest Indycar driver of the late 1950s, in car number 1, competing in the 500 mile race at Monza. The race attracted the top European Formula 1 drivers as well as the best exponents of Indycar racing from America. It was held over three heats, with placings determined from aggregate results. Bryan, who had won the first running of the race the previous year, drove his
