Total Lunar Eclipse from Austrian Journal of Popular Astronomy, c.1876 unusual sculptural pitcher a couple of hairline cracksThis spectacularly gorgeous image portrays a total lunar eclipse which occurred June, 1863. It is an antique book page from a volume of Zeitschrift fr populre Astronomi (Journal of Popular Astronomy) published by Lith Anst, Graz, c. 1876. The image itself was created by Ernest Matthey Guenet, who I have found some mentions of but not much about. I know very little about astronomy, and lunar phenomenon specifically, but I could stare at this all day
