I find the relationship between the form of the turned handle and the tapered bristles at the other end of this brush super satisfying

perfectly displayed in a big bowl filled with them

And the mirror swings easily and completely from one side to the other

C. 1830s Ink Silhouette of Woman in Original Frame antique African basket and really quite a specialThe frame (with pretty little acorn at top holding a hanging ring) tells me that this inked silhouette dates to the 1830s or so, though probably once held glass, which is long gone. Thus, there is wear and aging to the painting and paper, including some loss to what appears to have been gold painted details on her hair and bodice. I kind of like the effect, lending it some extra aura, but with her quite prominent nose still very clearly pronounced!
