a huge mid-palate and a layered
for the blends
The light-bodied palate is delicately styled and gently rustic
(Roty is one of two owners but is the only domaine that bottles an example)
The exceptions are the Baroli Voerzio bottled only in magnums (Sarmassa and Vecchie Viti dei Capalot e delle Brunate)
Raul Perez, Bierzo Penitencia Vintage:2015 a huge mid-palate and aGrown within the DO zone of Ribeira Sacra, not far from Bierzo, but bottled without reference to the DO, this wine is a blend of mostly Menca with Caio and Bastardo, aged in used 500l French barrels It's completely different to Perez's El Rapolao, showing lovely cassis and floral aromas with an intense, finely grained structure in the mouth. It has a restraint on the finish which gives the tension that's sometimes referred to as minerality.
