Salisbury Sisyphus Product:Canvas This cartoon alludes to the'Salisbury Sisyphus', 1887. Lord Salisbury, the Conservative Prime Minister, pushes the boulder of Irish Difficulty up a steep slope. The Irish Land Bill had just been introduced in the Upper House by the Earl of Cadogan. The problems in Ireland had brought down governments in the past, and the newly resurrected questions of Reform and Redress now faced the latest Prime Minister.
