purchased from a dealer at Brimfield who is a consistently good source of curious carved things--and because I love birds of every ilk

These were done by a young John Mosher in 1939, in third grade, and feel to me as if channeling both Pennsylvania hex stars and Froebel kindergarten cut paper designs but rendered with the immediacy of hard pressed crayon!
