Portrait of Gregorio Leti (1630-1701) vehicle by Sir John Ross (LondonHead and shoulders portrait of Leti in a shoulder length dark curled wig, enclosed in an inscribed oval frame surmounted by a coat of arms with the motto 'Non Lethum Leti' and decorated with acanthus. The main frame inscription reads: 'GREGORIUS LETI HISTORICUS AETAT 58 Ao. 1689'. Inscribed lower right: 'J Gole Sculp.' In pencil, lower left: '1681' Gregorio Leti was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1681. Original: line engraving. 1690s
