The Delta Barrage, Cairo, Egypt J.G. Parry-Thomas James Short was one ofThe Delta Barrage, Cairo, Egypt, c1920s. Completed in 1862, the Delta Barrage was a dam which was intended to improve irrigation in the Nile Delta area of Egypt. However, its foundations had been so poorly laid that it could not be used as a dam was subsequently marked as a romantic river crossing instead.
