particularly around the borders

and in Texas at the Midland Center for the Arts in 1954

then published by Parker Brothers later that year

Sweet Pair of Doggy Bookends plate with whales and then on the insideI just like the dog faces carved into these wooden bookends, which I think someone took great pains to try to get right, though both are slightly off center and the lines seem a bit more wavering than confident. Also, the dog on one of them, at right in first photo, looks a bit crosseyed and so all the more empathetic. 4 3 4 x 4 t x 3 d (3 4 thick) each. Good condition, varnished.
