I'd really love to have a whole bunch of these

tied with a thin strip of black fabric

and I think it is the degree to which they take themselves seriously as portraits that I find so appealing

I know nothing of its origins

but I think they would be equally great at the grown-up's table

Bone had a great line and terrific sense of humor which this pen and ink drawing animating a Victorian wicker reclining chair cut from an old catalog wonderfully exemplifies.
