I picture ivy streaming down the sides of this marvelous hand thrown and sculpted stoneware planter as it hangs from a high hook in a plant-filled sunroom

and to use one just pulls up on the disc on the stem and the grabber opens

I am quite sure it is a piece of a navigational instrument
