The exterior features are completed by a protruding boiled and blackened leather visor

unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a badge produced by an unconfirmed manufacturer (believed to be either Rudolf Karneth or Eugen Schmidhäussler) examined on pages 203-205 of “The Infantry Assault Badges” by Sascha Weber (2008)
