The blade's obverse ricasso is maker marked "A. S. Co." (Ames Sword Company) above a grenade and "1906", reverse ricasso marked "U. S." above the inspector's mark "J. H. C", the blade has tiny edge nicks, with oil staining near the tip on the obverse
