Opium smoking in the East End of London Size:L: 80 x 60cm Dick Whittington (c1350-1423) heard the'Opium smoking in the East End of London', 1874. A notice on the wall refers to the imminent departure of a ship from London to Ceylon and Penang in the Far East. Some opium dens in London were the haunt of lascars and Chinese sailors.
