It was found in Windhoek, Namibia by Sid Pieters in 1962, who named it in his father's honor. Another find was made in China in 1993 which is predominantly colored gold and bronze. A common misconception is that this stone is Tiger Eye and Hawk Eye (Falcon Eye). That simply isn't true. Tiger Eye is a macrocrystalline Quartz and Pietersite is a Chalcedony (microcrystalline Quartz). The spheres
