Bryan (1860 1925) was three times the Democratic Party's nominee for President of the United States. He was defeated in the 1896 and 1900 elections by William McKinley, and in 1908 lost to William Howard Taft. He was appointed Secretary of State in Woodrow Wilson's administration in 1913, but resigned two years later over the President's handling of the sinking of the 'Lusitania'. A print from Black
