Constructed of silver, the exterior featuring a central raised oval medallion bearing an engraved monogram, circumscribed by an inscription of GERMAN PRISONERS OF WAR CAMP ELLIS U. S. A., flanked on the left by a palm tree set within an inscription of AFRIKA 1941 and on the right by skyscrapers set within an inscription of ELLIS 1943, the interior stamped with an inscription of STERLING for 925
