Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a central U Boat superimposed over a hollow void the reverse with a barrel hinge and narrow vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with LDO code L 13 for Pau Meybauer, Berlin, measuring 47. 72 mm (w) x 38. 86 mm
