The box measures 6 3/4" in diameter and 3 3/4" tall with lid on (2 1/4" without lid)

and I believe likely more than 100 years old

The top bar could be replaced if desired by carefully opening the seam on the backside

It is constructed of two beautifully woven (and heavy!) pieces. The "front" features a complex, predominately black and white pattern, punctuated by colorful yellow, green, blue and pinkish diamonds, woven I believe with a wool weft on a cotton warp. The reverse features a vertically striped black, red and blue pattern, woven with wool on wool I
