1. Waist (A)

  • Where to Measure: Around your waist at the height of your belly button.
  • How to Measure: Wrap the measuring tape snugly but not tightly to get an accurate measurement. Ensure the tape is level all the way around.

2. Seat (B)

  • Where to Measure: Around the broadest part of your hips and buttocks.
  • How to Measure: Stand naturally with your feet together. Measure the circumference at the widest point, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

3. Length (C)

  • Where to Measure: From the belly button to the desired length of the kilt.
  • How to Measure:
    • Kneel down, keeping your back straight.
    • Ask someone else to measure from your belly button to the middle of your kneecap. This ensures the kilt will traditionally hang at mid-knee.
    • Military-Style Kilt: If you want a military-style kilt, measure to the top of the kneecap instead.

Tip: Always have someone assist you when measuring the length to avoid leaning forward, which can alter the results.

  • Sleeve Length (B):
    • With your arm straight and relaxed at your side, measure from the ball of your shoulder (or the seam of a well-fitting jacket) to your wrist.
    • If preferred, you can measure slightly longer for additional coverage.

2. Waistcoat Measurements

  • Waist (C):

1. Waist (A)

    Measure around your waist at the height of your belly button. This is where high-waist trousers typically sit.
  • Regular-Waist Trousers:
    Measure around the waistline where standard trousers are worn (just above the hips).

2. Seat/Hip (B)

  • Stand upright with your feet together.
  • Measure around the widest part of your hips and seat (buttocks).
  • Keep the measuring tape level and snug, but do not pull it tight.

3. Inside Leg (C)

  • Stand up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Measure from the groin down to the ankle on the inner side of the leg.
